The Power Of The Tongue

The power of the tongue

Words are powerful they can make or break relationships they can make our body decay and make us have higher chances of death! And words are even more powerful than words!? words can change the world! And all words come from the tongue so the tongue is very powerful!

this is why James makes it clear to us the power of the tongue in James 3:5-6

James 3:5-6 NLV

The tongue is also a small part of the body, but it can speak big things. See how a very small fire can set many trees on fire. The tongue is a fire. it is full of wrong. It poisons the whole body. The tongue sets our whole lives on fire with a fire that comes from hell.

How the tongue is like a fire

James compares the tongue with a fire! Your tongue is so small but let’s take your arm it’s so strong the average 20-29-year-old man’s arm can hold 230 phones! Your tongue can't even lift your toy truck but it can hurt you and others, for example, if you say hundreds of bad words to your friend, and then you come back home and feel terrible then your friend might get angry at someone else and then back at you and you get back at him and get angry at another person it keeps going until you lost all of your friends just like a fire it spreads and spreads until everything is burned just like you lost all your friends.

Psalm 5 also tells us how the people who say bad things with their tongues will be destroyed by God.

James 3:7-8 NLV

Men can make all kinds of animals and birds and fish and snakes do what they want them to do. but no man can make his tongue say what he wants it to say. It is sinful and does not rest. It is full of poison that kills

The tongue and the rudder

The tongue is so small but powerful that we can't tame It! That's why James compares the tongue to a rudder in James 3:4, a rudder is a part of a ship that is small but can turn the whole ship around! Like the tongue is small but powerful, how powerful? you might think, it can have serious effects on the body like for example, we have lots of water in our body if we say good things to others the cells in the water will be big and healthy but if we say bad things to others, we will make the cells unhealthy and when we get angry, we have higher chances of getting heart disease.

James 3:4 NLT

A small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong.

Fun fact time

Remember the time I said words are even more powerful than words? well, it's context, one word can mean one thing without context and mean another thing with context. so even misunderstanding words without context can make a large argument.

Summary time

We learned with God’s help that words have a lot of power, and that they can hurt others and ourselves our words all come from the tongue which we can’t tame it’s so powerful that James compares it to a forest fire, the tongue is also like a ruder that is small but can turn a whole boat. And that without context a word can mean one thing and with context, it can mean another thing, and that without context big arguments can happen.

Bye, see you soon!!

THE END.
